Overview
Mr.
Kurin
counsels clients in all aspects of intellectual property,
with his main focus on obtaining patent
protection for both start-up and established
companies. He has prepared legal opinions and
licenses for clients and has helped develop
intellectual property strategies for clients. He
has also provided clients with advice and
opinions regarding the intellectual property of
competitors, as well as the intellectual
property of companies with which clients have
considered entering into joint ventures. Mr.
Kurin also has experience preparing and filing
an application for patent term extension for a
patent covering a medical device that was
subject to FDA approval, where the FDA approval
was not obtained until after the patent was
issued.
Mr. Kurin has
counseled clients in the technical fields
relating to analog circuits and signal
processing, digital circuits and signal
processing, mixed signal processing, audio
signal processing, RF and microwave test
equipment, optical data storage systems,
magnetic data storage systems, ferroelectric
data storage systems, semiconductor devices,
photo-detectors, cardiac rhythm management,
cardiac monitoring and treatment, cardiac leads,
photo-plethysmography, interstitial
brachytherapy for treatment of cancer, sutures
for surgical procedures, client-server systems,
communication systems, computer architecture,
computer software, spam-detection systems,
e-commerce and other Internet applications,
database applications, electrostatic
precipitators, consumer products,
electro-mechanical devices and mechanical
devices.
Mr. Kurin has worked
in the field of intellectual property since
1995. Prior to joining our firm, Mr.
Kurin was an associate attorney with
Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.C.
(Washington, DC). Prior to studying law,
Mr. Kurin worked for Martin Marietta Air Traffic
Systems on a systems engineering contract with
the Federal Aviation
Administration.
