JOSEPH P. O'MALLEY counsels clients in the technical fields of computer software, including operating systems, network management software, networking protocols, and databases; Internet and electronic commerce systems; computer networks; reconfigurable logic and computing; embedded systems; integrated circuits; digital communications; digital signal processing; wireless communication devices and networks; semiconductor processing; and optical technologies, including lasers and optical networks.

Education

Mr. O'Malley holds a B.S. (1986) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. (cum laude, 1991) from Boston University School of Law.

Legal Affiliations

Mr. O'Malley is a member of the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Professional Activities

Mr. O'Malley is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association, the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Prior Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. O'Malley was a patent attorney with Burns, Doane, Swecker and Mathis LLP in Redwood City and Majestic, Parsons, Seibert and Hsue LLP in San Francisco. Mr. O'Malley is a former software engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Aerospace Software Division.
